Intro to backcounty Skiing - hurricane ridge

Join a guided day with expert instruction as we intro the basics of equipment, backcountry travel safety and navigation.

Courses are bespoke to each client group and can be tailored to each groups needs and aims for the day.

Equipment selection and use

Backcountry skiing techniques

Avalanche awareness

Safety & group management

Navigation & terrain choice

We meet at the Hurricane ridge parking lot at 9 am (or when the gate opens) or the Maggies area pullout – 2 miles before the ridge parking lot) After a briefing and kit check we head through the day covering runs back down to the road as well as tailoring the fundamentals of the subjects above.

We finish our laps for 4pm to drive out of the gate before the NPS cutoff

You will need to supply your own backcountry Ski or splitbvoard equipment, avalanche beacon shovel probe, helmet and clothing as well as lunch  and water for the day.
